Special Thanks to: Hattie Adams for assisting with Pokeno activities at the Brooke County Senior Center.    A little about Hattie, she started with RSVP on June 26, 1996 and has served 34 jobs assisting 18 sites totaling 48,412 hours showing a monetary value of $768,829 and at least 2,444 clients. Hattieís first service was companionship/outreach and

She then served 65 hours at Weirton United Way assisting with fundraising activities and mailings.  In March of 2000 Hattie started assisting with Food Service at Follansbee and Weirton Senior Center serving 319 hours.  She also started helping out at the local Senior Centers of  Brooke County and The Greater Weirton Senior Center serving 36,583 hours with crafts, medical transportation, fundraising, recreational activities, fun night, blood pressure, Bingo, flu shots, fundraising, newsletters, health nutrition, Christmas lap robe project, and advisory councils.  She has assisted with book sales at the Mary H. Weir Public Library serving 4 hours and 383 hours assisting with mailings at the Weirton Chamber of Commerce.  She has assisted American Cancer Society, Brooke Hills Park, MDA, Easter Seals, Salvation Army of Weirton and Follansbee Fire Department at local fairs and events with 37 hours of service.  She has served 12 hours assist with blood drives at Brooke County Red Cross and 3 hours assisting with baby blankets at Crittenton Services, Inc. and mentoring young women with Camp Fire USA.  Hattieís reason for volunteering, ďI love being with people and helping people.  My life has improved, I am happier doing things for people instead of staying home and being bored.  The people I help donít have to pay for the service.  They have a visitor that jokes and cuts up.  Itís my time to come here and make someone laugh.  All the people I help are special.Ē  Hattie has been with RSVP sixteen years and has truly made a great difference in her community.  We donít know what we would do without Hattie!

Find you service and register online to help your community!
