Up and coming MLK Day Events needing volunteer assistance:

  • Volunteers are needed to assist with first aide training for the Brooke and Marshall County ASAP on January 27, 2012..

  • Volunteers are need to assist with "Break Bread with the Bruins" on January 16, 2012 in Cafeteria A from 4:00-7:00 pm.

  • West Virginia Attorney General will be offering a consumer protection education training at the Brooke County Senior Center in honor of MLK day on January 17, 2012 at 11:30 at Brooke County Senior Center.


AARP Tax Preparation coming in February
It's coming that time again. Tax Season.   Brooke County Senior Center - Tuesday - 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.  MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. Please call 527-3410.  

Greater Weirton Senior Center - Monday thru Friday 9:30 to 3:30 p.m. Walk-inís are welcome no appointment necessary.

Please bring 2010 paid personal property tax receipts with prior year tax information.

Special Thanks to AARP Safe Driving volunteers:  Lee Beckner, Jack Cassella, Ralph Cox, Philip Dolan, Dickey Laughlin, Sally Marple, Denise May, John  Richmond and Mel Vorhees for your commitment to serve your community by instructing 138 mature citizens of who 40 were veterans.  Of these 138 citizens 107 completed a survey indicating 35 had taken the class for personal development & insurance discount averaging from $20 - $120 or 3% to 20% savings monthly and 86 indicated they had no accident since taking this course.  Special thanks also to Christ United Methodist Church, Baymont Inn, WV Northern Community College, Miracle Valley Library and Upper Ohio Valley Family Services for your assistance in supplying the instructional site.
