Volunteers receive CPR and First Aide Training Honoring 911 & September National Preparedness Month


Many residents were taught cardiopulmonary resuscitation thanks to Bob Fowler, Virginia Smith and Cheryl Smith of the Brooke County Office of Emergency Management.  Held by Follansbee Police Community Watch Program and Brooke Hancock Ohio Marshall RSVP “ASAP”.  Among the participants were:  Sarah Jane Anderson, Bill T. Anderson, Maxine M. DiPalma, Linda Craig, Bill Kocher, James W. Brooks, Angela Kocher, Lynn Carey, Jackson Carey, Pete Giannamore, Josephine Patrone, Pat Accettolo, Debbie Gaston, Ashley Gregorash, Diana Mendel, Sharon K. DiEugene and Bobby Johnson.

RSVP Director served along with 19 other NSCA members assisting 911 Service Project organized by Deanwood Recreation Center of Washington DC and NSCA Board.  WV Director duties were to assist seniors at the recreation center with meals, “Disaster Preparedness Fair”, Red Cross and FEMA Presentations.

Gerry Cross for hours of dedication with crafting instruction to students at RSVP “ASAP” and  Hank Vincent for entertaining with guitar playing and singing.  4H assistant Liz Gatts for dedicated service again this year in assisting with Science and Craft projects. Great Job!

Volunteers Needed

Look for RSVP at Wellsburg Applefest on October 1 – 3, 2010 and Follansbee Christmas in the Park on October 9-10, 2010. RSVP office will be calling to request volunteers to assist with manning booth, baking goods and crafting items.

AARP Tax assistant is looking for volunteers, now is the time to inquire and get your training materials, we need your assistance! 

RSVP "ASAP Volunteer meeting scheduled October 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Brooke County Senior Center, new volunteers welcome, could use your assistance with growing ASAP.

RSVP "ASAP" 1st Annual Kids Fashion Show October 16, 2010, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Club Shutter.  Tickets: Adult $5 and Students $3.  Fashions provided by JC Penny, Macy's, Fashion Bug, Wal-Mart, Your, Mine and Ours Shop and It's New to "U" Shop.  Tickets are available at Brooke County Senior Center RSVP Office.  Prepare to have fun!  Proceeds benefit RSVP "ASAP" .  Also, get you $5 shopping pass to Shop for a Cause from Debbie Gaston.  Set date is October 16, 2010.

RSVP is in desperate need of 4 ply yarn for the Christmas Project lap robes!
